Nesebur, Bulgaria |

| Nesebur in Bulgaria proved to be a very interesting place and, as a new member of the European Union, it was obvious that European Union money was being used to improve buildings and roads. The old town , virtually situated on an island, was joined to the mainland by a causeway, to gain access to which was obtained by going through the old city gate. The town walls are still standing and parts being repaired. At one time the town must have had many basilicas because there were ruins of some, others had been turned into and used as places not connected with worship - one such is the town Art Gallery, whilst yet another is actually being used for the purpose for which it was built. There are many wooden balconied houses in the old town which look quite picturesque. All this is left behind after crossing the causeway because new high rise apartments and shops were making this the new town, which lying on top of hilly land made for a good view of the harbour and old town. | ||
